In an intense Friday night matchup, Adairsville High School edged out Ringgold High School with a narrow 28-26 win. Adairsville’s quarterback, Jonathan Gough, showcased an outstanding performance, accounting for four touchdowns – three via passes and one on the ground.
Ringgold commenced strong with a 7-0 lead in the first quarter following a 52-yard punt return touchdown by Kishaun Taylor. Adairsville retaliated with two consecutive scores, notably a 40-yard touchdown pass from Gough to Noah Matthews, leading 14-7. The half ended 21-10 in Adairsville’s favor after another Gough touchdown pass.
Although Adairsville seemed in control with a 28-10 lead during the third quarter, Ringgold made a spirited comeback. Their quarterback, Garrett Edgar, ran for a 23-yard touchdown, and Alijah Bradberry further reduced the deficit to just two points in the last minute of the game. With the opportunity to equalize, Ringgold’s two-point conversion run was thwarted by Adairsville’s defense. Ringgold’s onside kick attempt failed, allowing Adairsville to cement their victory.
Post-match, Ringgold’s record stands at 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 6-AAA. Adairsville, now 3-2 overall and undefeated 2-0 in their region, is set to face LaFayette the following Friday at 7:30 p.m.
